Announcing the second UNICHE co-design workshop
The UNICHE project is pleased to announce its second User Requirements & Technical Specifications Co-design Workshop, taking place in Athens on 9 February 2026, at the Athens University History Museum.
This physical, in-situ event marks the final milestone of the User Requirements and Technical Specifications phase, following the hybrid co-design workshop in Florence, and the webinar series.
This physical, in-situ event marks the final milestone of the User Requirements and Technical Specifications phase, following the hybrid co-design workshop in Florence, and the webinar series.
What is the workshop about?
The Athens workshop is designed as a hands-on, experiential co-design event with a dedicated focus on XR technologies for cultural heritage. It brings together invited professionals, researchers, and practitioners from the cultural heritage sector to actively shape the final specifications of the UNICHE technological framework.
Rather than a conventional workshop, participants will be immersed in a real museum context, working directly with existing exhibition spaces and digital assets.
What will participants do?
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Engage directly with XR authoring and exhibition tools, gaining first-hand experience with emerging approaches.
- Explore XR scenarios (including 3DoF, XR360 and collaborative XR) situated within an operational museum environment.
- Take part in guided co-design activities, structured around real curatorial and exhibition challenges.
- Provide targeted feedback through facilitated sessions that contribute to the user requirements and technical specifications.
All activities are designed to ensure that technological development remains grounded in professional practice, curatorial workflows, and the real needs of cultural heritage institutions.
Why attend?
By participating, attendees will:
- Actively influence the final design decisions of the UNICHE XR framework.
- Gain early insight into XR tools and methodologies tailored to cultural heritage contexts.
- Exchange knowledge and perspectives with peers and project partners.
- Contribute to shaping technologies that aim to be usable, sustainable, and practice-driven.
